The weekly shop this week is actually fairly reasonable, due in no small part to the fact that as I slaved at the stove for hours on Monday, we’re having galettes for lunch all bloody week. The Sunday roast (becoming quite a habit now!) was an absolutely mouth-watering leg of lamb, which was half price in Tesco, and our supper during the week is Cajun salmon with brown rice and broccoli.
Even though the weekly shop seems quite cheap, feeding two people quite well for seven days, I should probably bear in mind that this week involved a bit of raiding of the larder – I had rice, flour and spices already bought, so that might have helped a bit. Just a wee bit though, I’m still happy enough with the frugality!
I could of course live on far less, and have done in the past, but this blog is about eating like Kings on the wages of paupers, so I do stretch a bit for the nicer / healthier things in life, whether it be a wholegrain food or a good bottle of red – I’ll usually make up for it by cutting back elsewhere. Life’s too short!
